Before computers dominated art and design, Dave Kinsey was making art the old fashioned way and out doing graffiti on the streets. As a result, his work is inherently hands-on as he captures the universal essence of the human condition mainly through an energetic portrayal of urban figures.
Working spontaneously, and utilizing a range of mediums, he constructs multi-layered, textured environments easily likened to the complexities of contemporary life.
Kinsey founded BLK/MRKT Gallery in 2001. His fine art has been shown in galleries and museums worldwide. He’s been featured in such publications as The New York Times and Black Book and spoken at numerous institutions such as The Art Center College of Design, UCLA, Montserrat College of Art and the Semi-Permanent conference and now he’s working with etnies for a second season on a few special pieces.
